Every DOI always follows this structure: https://doi.org/[your prefix]/[your chosen suffix]

Principles for Structuring Your Suffix

A DOI is permanent — the DOI string cannot be changed once registered. For that reason, your suffix should be opaque, meaning it should consist of a random set of characters and should not encode information that may change later, such as:

• Publication name initials
• Publication date
• ISSN
• Issue or page number

Example of a correct (opaque) suffix: 10.5555/njevzkkwu4i7g Example of a discouraged suffix: 10.5555/ogs.2016.59.1.1 — because it encodes name and date information that may change and become confusing over time. If you use the Crossref XML plugin for OJS, the suffix is typically generated automatically. Otherwise, you will need to define your own suffix pattern following the principles above.
